Hello sunshine!

it is time for a new Bullet Journal setup! And while writing this I just realized that it is April 1st - just to be on the save side: THIS IS NOT A JOKE :D
This month the theme is: Game of Thrones!

I have been thinking about the theme for a very long time, because Game of Thrones is difficult. Every inspiration I found on Pinterest was very detailed and connected with much more effort than I wanted to have. And because I had trouble using my Bullet Journal anyway I was not sure whether it was worth it to venture it.
Well, I'm still not sure but I like how it turned out.

In the end I decided to go for it, because I had the time to draw all the sketches I wanted and I was highly motivated to work on my digital drawing skills. If you haven't seen my first attempts to draw digitally, you can check out this post.

Ok, so now it is time for the first page of my April Setup: my monthly log/ monthly overview.
I went for a horizontal spread for the first time. I showed you a spread like this for #blogmas but I have never used it since then. Now it is time for this one!
I have already drawn in some appointments to show you how it will look in the end of the month with all my notes.

Bottom right I made space for important tasks to visualize my top 3 tasks for April. During the next weeks I will split up these tasks into smaller ones to have goals for each week. This way I will try to achieve my goals step by step without standing in froont of a huge task at the end of the month.

Honestly, I'm proud of my drawing of Daenerys Targaryen - so, if you couldn't recognize her, this should be Daenerys. Even if she is a bit bigger than I expected, she had to be in my Bullet Journal with this theme! Daeneris is my most favourite character and I am excited about her from the very first beginning.

Please don't be surprised about this big heading. It was for my blogpost about 50 Bullet Journal monthly theme ideas. You can read it shortly after this post.

I'm still not sure about the tracker. My habit tracker in March is the best example for a well painted page never used. For the first two weeks I tried to keep tracking but I got to a point where I had to add to much and I wasn't motivated at all. All the more irrational that I went for two tracker for April.

On the one side I have my blogtracker for all posts and ideas.

And on the other side I have my habit tracker (on the right side) and a sleep-/ study-/ moodtracker. The first box will be filled in with lines and crosses to show how much time I spend sleeping and working and how my mood was. My friend Lisa from flowersandcrownes inspired me to do this.
The other box is the basic habit tracker and for April I decided to track the following habits: Workouts, Ab Challenge (I'm doing this with a friend), Clue (using the app), Instagram picture, Instagram storie, 2x dogwalk and spend no money.

I'm just realizing that I haven't used the most basic weekly spread in 2019 so far. I always wanted to have a dark black page in my Bullet Journal but obviousely just black would be difficult to write on. So, I wen for partly black with a white quote on it from Daeneris and Khal Drogo. Btw: I loved the relationship they both had. I'm such a huge fan of those stron couples where the man is such a strong and bossy personality but for his wife he is gently and caring.

On the right bottom is a digital drawing of John Snow. I'm surprised that it actually looks that good but to be honest, I had a good template.

For April I chose a grey color to go with the theme It's my Tombow Number N75. Lately it has been to colorful for me so I wanted a quiet colour. We will see whether this is enough otherwise I will try to make a much more minimalistic design for May.
I know that I have to change something because I'm descending into to-do lists and sticky notes, which would be unnecessary if I would use my Bullet Journal the way it is meant to be. I assume/ hope that it was just the designt for March which was not the best for me and I did not like it that much.

If you haven't seen Game of Thrones yet, I would definitely recommend to do it now! The first three seasons did not catch me as much as everything from the fourth season. In my opinion the series got better and better from season to season and the final episodes will cap it all of (I hope so)

The chessmen are showing a wolf on the left and a dragon on the right side, matching to the characters I showed you so far.
Even if I told you right now, that I wanted to have these pages more "quiet" I couldn't resist from havin a galaxy pattern in those chessmen. I really like that look and that's the only colour I have used.

I have never used this box-system so far. Because of the Dutch Door the boxes on the right side are 4x9cm instead of 4x10cm, but I hope that this will not be a problem.

The space at the top of the page is slated for a quote which I would like to show on Instagram as a little tutorial. I would really like to make some changes to my Instagram feed and I'm currently figuring out what I would like to have.

In March this Double-Dutch Door was great and I think it was my most used page. So this had to be in my April Setup as well! This time it is even more extravagant because it has this little dragon on the side. And also the font is differnt. I made the first letter a bit bigger than the others and the downstroke is made thicker.

And now we are already in the last week which I don't like so far and I'm thinking about possible changes all the time. I made some black brush strokes with acrylic colour and wrote the dates on it in rosegold and white.I don't like the black colour but my boyfriend likes this page and now I'm not sure what to do with this page. If you have any ideas what I could change to make it look prettier, feel free to tell me! I would be so happy if you have some inspiration for me! :D

If you haven't seen it so far: I opened my own shop to sell all the stickers I use for my Bullet Journal. I will try to upload all Game of Thrones Sticker I used whithin the next week, so you could create your own fanpage before the last season starts.

I'm excited to use my pages now and I hope you like the design. I can't wait to see the next episodes of GoT - we have been waiting long enough!

See you next time!

Hello sunshine!

today it's all about a Bullet Journal. The beautiful thing about a Bullet Journal is that you can create or decorate it however you want it.
I have been using this system for more than 3 years and during the time I got more and more creative and confident. I found my way to design this journal most effective for me. And still, I have days where I have no idea what to draw or which theme to chose for the month.
To prevent this, I share 50 monthly theme ideas with you!

Today, I will not have a picture for every design idea, but a list with theme ideas you can choose from.
I have tried to sort it by category ... but you will see that it wasn't successful :D

If you found a theme you like, it is your choice how much and how you implement it in your design.
I use at least the color of the month on every page and try to have space for a little sketch.
It could also be possible that you olny have one page with a big painting and the rest is minimalistic or you show you chosen theme big on every single page. Or you choose quotes to show your theme to mix it up with the sketches.
It is your Bullet Journal - it is your choice!
Create it however you want!

If you are not sure how to start your Bullet Journal, then you can check out this post and here you can find 5 ideas how to make a monthly overview. And it you still need inspiration, then click on this post - it is my Bullet Journal setup for March.

And this is it. While writing this list I realised that I have already tried a lot of different themes but not as much as I could!
I will definitely chose next months theme from this list and go back to it whenever I am lackinig on inspiration or ideas.

I hope you found what you where looking for.

See you next time!

Hello sunshine!

Another month is already over, which is why the next month of my Bullet Journal needs to be prepared. In February my Bullet Journal helped me a lot with my exams and prevented from stress. Now, all my exams are done and I need to change my system again to make it suitable for my current holidays. Therefore, I want to show you my Bullet Journal setup for march.

Because both months of 2019 had more feminine and warm colours I wanted some cooler colours, and decided for a light icy blue. To make it not to cold I chose to decorate the month with crystals.
I already did this theme once in September 2017 and thought it is time to remake this to see what differences I can implement.
Back then non of the pictures was selfmade, they were all printed out from other artists and I just decorated it with colour accents. This time I absolutely wanted to make everything by myself (which actually was a longer process than I thought it would be).

Instead of the big artwork I usually do, this months cover page is a big letter with rising crystals on the side. I found this idea on Pinterest and tried to transfer this to the uppercase M without paying attention to the kind of crystals I drew. I just wanted it to look pretty :D

Because the pages of my Leuchtturm1917 are very thin I created the monthly overview digital and printed it out. I tried to make it directly on the page but you could see the backside of the page which was awful.
For the monthly overview I chose a new structure - well, not new but not used in 2019. The vertical array is devided in Business and School, because in the middle of March my Uni will start again and I need to coordinate my Blog and my side job.

To be honest the tracker annoyed me a little bit in the end of February, because I concstantly needed to add circles or it reminded me of doing something I did not wanted to do (e.g. workouts) because I was to lazy or unmotivated.
I still like the theory of a habit tracker and the results show that it works (because I did thos annoying workouts for those annoying circles and I was proud afterwards). And I will try to use it more in March and give it a second chance. We will see whether it wourks or not and I will think about it again when preparing my Bullet Journal for April.

On the other side of this spread I placed a new overview for my blog, which I already tested in February. Unfortunately, it failed because I did not look at it as often as I should and honestly I wasn't interested in doing anything for social media.

So, this spread is filled with overviews which did both not work well in February but I will try again in March. Hopefully they will do a better job and if not I need to change something.

As you can see, I already used this week and I really liked it, because I have been using a structure like this for the last weeks. I have enough space for each day to write down all my to-do's and arrange them with priorities. Basically this page is shaped simple but to highlight the dutch door I decorated the edge with a sketch to have a little bookmark.

I'm currently so happy with those half pages, that I couldn't resist to have them in my Bullet Journal setup for March as well.
All my weekly spreads are simple and as functional as possible, to have a good use of them. So that this week also have enough space for each day, but not to much to make my to-do list limited. As long as I have holidays I try to use them to be lazy, because those are my last "holiday" as I know them and propably the last time I have nothing to do for weeks. So I try to keep those lists short., before it get seriouse again.

Although I have used this kind of spread several times, I'm still not sure whether I like it or not. Technically you have enough space for each day and I like the seperation of appointments and tasks, but on the other side the columns are very small. Nevertheless, I will use this spread in March again but with the little extra of an note section at the top.
I have used way to much sticky notes last month and couldn't find them when I needed it. This should stop now and I will try to write it all down at one place - this is what a Bullet Journal is meant to be. I hope that I can implement it.

March is the first month in 2019 I need to prepare 5 weeks for my Bullet Journal and so I went creazy with the dutch doors and made them one after another. This means that the week in the middle needs to be smaller than the others, but it looks good to me. There is no space for a sketch or any other decoration but I can see the ones from the side before and after. I don't need decoration on each and every page - this efficient and clear page also looks great.

And the last week doesn't look different to the others, but with less space for the weekdays and more for the note section. This week will be the first week of the semester and I will definitely need to structure all the new information about everything and write down long-time tasks and projects. The next months need to be prepared and for that I often write down every information on one page. On the backside I have a little planner with my timetable and the deadlines for exams and projects, but it you want to see them in detail just tell me in the comments below and I will make a new blogpost about my Bullet Journal organizations for university.

Those are my final scheduled and decorated weeks in my Bullet Journal. It took me several days to finish those pages and honestly, I had a point where I wanted to give up and leave it without sketches, but I did finish it. It looks so different than the first time I made it and I'm happy that I designed the sketches all by myself and those are my first digital sketches. I am not sure which variation looks better but it is satisying to say I made them by myself instead of it is just printed out from another artist.

I hope you like this Bullet Journal setup as much as I do. Feel free to tell me your thoughts in the comments below.

See you next time. ♥

Hello sunshine!

Because last time my Bullet Journal Setup was late, my February Setup is even earlier. I spent my whole weekend to draw the next 4 weeks and I’m quite happy with my results. This time my Bullet Journal setup for February is all featured with flowers.
I really wanted to use my Tombow Number 772 as a highlight colour and with my watercolour I created matching pictures for that.
After I loved using my January Setup, I wanted something to stick with that and so I started to think about what I liked about this setup and which parts made some difficulties. For examples I had so many to do lists everywhere which should be all part of y Bullet Journal instead – at least this is my opinion.

An example for what I did not like is my cover page, because I did not watch it as often as I wished for. It is really pretty and so it is kind of a waste to have it on a page I do not open as much. Because of this I decided to have my February cover page and my monthly overview on one spread side by side.
Most of the times the picture for the cover page takes the most effort and so I will see it every time I go back to my monthly log.

For the monthly overview I did the same segmentation as I did in January and December. Currently this is the most efficient layout for me. I can write down multiple appointments on one date or long-term projects. And you know: never change a winning team! So as long as it works for me, I will stick to this.
The weekdays have 2cm each and the weekend 1.5cm each, because I don’t have that much to do on the weekends.

bullet journal habit tracker spread and handlettering quote with galaxy painting by glitter is black

I am surprised that I managed to fill in my tracker for the last 28 days and it really motivated me to do something to get this little circle at the end of the day.
That’s why I did the spread as I did it in January again. I chose the habits workout, early Pam (doing a workout from Pamela Reif in the morning), 2x Simba (walk the dog twice), healthy food, Clue (use the app) and Instagram.

To make this spread I used my stamps, BUT each stamp has 31 days, which made it difficult to get just 28 on the page. In the end it worked best with having an extra sheet of paper underneath the stamp. So the days 29 – 31 are on another paper and just the first 28 are in my Leuchtturm1917.
But to be honest it was tricky, and it took me several attempts till I was brave enough to do the real spread. And as you can see even then it did not work 100% - as my last month just has 27 days.

bullet journal weekly spread with dutch door and watercolour paintings of flowers by glitter is black

If you have seen my Bullet Journal Setup for January, you will now realize: it worked! Because February looks nearly the same.
I think the Dutch door is really cool and that’s why I cut down one page to 8cm. One little difference to last month is the part to do’s this week. It is just for things I want to do but I cannot schedule a day or I need more than one day to do it, so I leave it there to write it down when I know when I will do it.

bullet journal weekly overview with dutch door and watercolour paintings of flowers by glitterisblack

When I divide my pages I always try to have almost the same space for each day, which is not possible every time, but this time it worked well. By the time I realized that I don’t need that much horizontal space and I rather have more length than width.

The flowers on the side have bee originally made on watercolour paper (as almost every painting this month) and then I scanned and printed it. Unfortunately, I underestimated the size and now I must write on it, but that’s okay. It will be part of the “background” instead of a highlight on the side.

bullet journal weekly loq with dutch door and watercolour paintings of flowers by glitter is black

For my second Dutch door I made it a bit bigger. It is 11cm width and is perfect to mage a horizontal weekly spread. For this I wrote down my appointments in the first row and all my to-do’s underneath. To have all columns one size I made the weekend in one column with 3,5cm each.

The little branch in the upper left corner resp. on the next page is again a watercolour painting I scanned and printed in different sizes. For me it is so much easier to do it this way, because I can paint it bigger with all the details but at the end it fits (almost) perfect in my Bullet Journal.

bullet journal weekly spread with watercolour sticker of flowers handmade by glitter is black

The last week is almost the same as the other ones but with the numbers highlighted instead of the weekdays. I have my last exam on 14/02/19 and after that I will have no lectures or anything for a few weeks. I’m pretty sure I will lose my feeling for time and with the dates I will be on the safe site not to forget any appointment. For example: I have to be at a birthday on the 23rd or I have to send a letter until the 27th

And this is my Bullet Journal setup for February! I’m satisfied with the design and I hope I will be able to work with it as productive as it was in January. I’m not 100% sure for how long I will continue with the tracker, but so far I’m motivated to keep doing.

I hope you like my Bullet Journal setup and you got some inspiration. I would appreciate it if you would tell me your thoughts in the comments below!

Hello sunshine!

It is finally time, to show you my Bullet Journal setup for January! I have been using it for already two weeks now, which means I’m super duper late with this setup, but I can promise you, that it is effective, and I love it!
This month, I decided to do the same topic as I did in January 2018: Galaxy! It was one of my favourite themes and I hope I will love mine as much as the old one (so far: I do!).
I used my Tombow 623 for the coloured highlights. But unfortunately, this beauty is a bit to old and trattered for lettering, so I could just use it for as a background colour.

Currently I’m experimenting with my new printer and my graphic tablet to create some stickers. This cover page is an attempt to print watercolours and I was surprised about the quality. It looks not exactly as the original, but it is very close and it is sticker paper it is way thinner than the watercolour paper.

Monthly overview and habit tracker

This year I wanted to start tracking my habits again. So, I made my monthly overview on one page and used the other side for six habits.
The monthly overview is made as the one in December, because I really liked it and it is useful for busy times.

Because of new resolutions, I decided to track workouts, 2x simba (which means two dog walks a day), Pam früh (one workout from Pamela Reif in the morning), healthy eating, Clue (Using the app) and Instagram. For me this is a good mixture, to not overdo it with tracking but having everything I would not do if I would not have to make this little purple circle at the end of the day.
For all the small monthly overviews on the weekly spreads and for the habit tracker, I used my new stamps. I love them even if they bleed through, but they don’t smear, and it looks so clean and simply.

bullet journal weekly setup glitter is the new black
weekly overview

The first week of January was planned to be productive, but I got sick and did not really use my bullet journal during that time. But at least I managed to do everything that was already scheduled for this week and I sis not forget about my appointments.

The little planets are stickers I made. As I said, I’m trying and learning how to paint digital. I’m not as satisfied as I wished but I like the look of then and so I can include a little watercolour on each page without making the paper any wet or wavy.

weekly setup galaxy theme bullet journal glitter is the new black
weekly overview with dutch door

This year I want to try out these “half pages”. I know that there is a more professional word for this, but I don’t remember it. What I did: I cut the right page, so that it is shorter than the others.
I wanted to have my week one page as always and I made 8cm width on both sides for the days and the weekend on the bottom.
On the back I have some information about my upcoming exams, which is very important but not enough for a whole page, and I track my expenses. What I like about this half page is, that I don’t have one whole page for this information and I can hide it if I want.

half page in a bullet journal glitter is the new black
dutch door

On the page behind the half page I have another watercolour sticker with the quote “it is written in the starts”. Next time I will try to make the quote digital as well to highlight the worlds a little more. It is hard to read them now, but I love it anyway.

weekly setup bullet journal with dutch door glitter is the new black
weekly setup

Again, this is one week made on one and a half pages. This time I used a pinkish watercolour for the planets and I made four days on the left side and three on the right.
This time I used the back side of the half page for another weekly spread. It was possible because I made the half page 12cm instead of 8cm.

And this is it so far. By now I really loved the pages and I used my tracker every day, which I didn’t do for the last 6 months. My conclusion to the “half pages” is: I love it! I wouldn’t need any more space and I look the usefulness of it.

What do you think about these pages? Would you feel bad, cutting your bullet journal or have you tried it before? Let me know in the comments below.
I hope you like my design as much as I do. And If you can’t get enough, check out my 2019 bullet journal setup or my Instagram page.

See you next time.♥

Hello sunshine!

key seite bullet journal glitter is the new black
key page

future log leuchtturm1917 glitter is the new black
future log

bucket list 2019 bullet journal glitter is the new black

brain dump spread bullet journal glitter is the new black

See you next time!♥

Hello sunshine!

"Snow is fallin'
All around me
Children playin'
Having fun
It's the season
Love and understanding
Merry Christmas everyone..."

We have only 3 days left until Christmas and if you don’t have any presents yet, I have the last minute survival idea:

self-made Christmas cards!

hand lettering christmas cards DIY blogmas glitter is black
DIY Christmas Cards

I mean: this is not the best idea for everyone but for your closer friends and family I think they would appreciate it if you take the time to draw a personalised card with lovely words inside.
So, I searched for inspiration on pinterest and created 4 cards four you, which are easy to draw and took me less than 5 minutes (without the time for waiting the watercolours to dry)!

Self made Christmas Card hand lettering merry Christmas blogmas glitter is black
merry Christmas

Card Nr. 1 is painted with watercolours. I chose different types of green and painted branches. I first wanted bigger pines and added firry-branches and a few mistletoes. To make it a bit more festive I added red circles with a cotton bud.

The lettering is very simple first but the “Christmas” is convoluted and obtrusive. I like the mixture of simple and louder fonts but if you don’t, feel free to change it!

DIY Christmas Card Winter themed hand lettering blogmas glitter is black
Warm wishes

Card Nr. 2 is more winter-related than just Christmas.
To be honest: this is not perfect, and I would change it if I would give it to someone else, but you get an impression of what I wanted to draw.
I wanted to paint a blue watercolour background and a snowflake on top. Unfortunately, my background is not dark enough to make the white font protrude.
My font is white to match the snowflake, but I think it would also look great if you choose a darker grey or even black as long as it is covering.

nailed it

Card Nr. 3
This card is my boyfriend’s most favourite. For me this is a funny way to look at the stressful period before Christmas and saying we all have the same problems but at the same time it makes you feel happy.
I just drew the socket and a very long and snarled line and added little baubles afterwards in different colours. Even if just the outer lines got decoration it looks messy enough. If you have very covering pencils you could add much more if you want.

Card Nr. 4 is on brown paper cut out of a shopping bag. I painted the lettering in a banner and gave the background a bit of texture to give it a bit of a deepening effect.

On top you can paint whatever you want. I chose a Christmas tree with geometric patterns matching to the banner. I like the simplicity and that it looks so different than all the others.

And this is it!
4 different Christmas card you can easily recreate by yourself in less than 10 minutes. I will show you a 5. idea on my instagram, so feel free to check it out. And if you have some more inspiration or ideas, feel free to tell me in in the comments below!

Merry Christmas!❄
Hello sunshine!

"Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way,
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh..."

There are only 4 days left until Christmas and I’m getting so excited! I cannot wait to give everyone their presents and I already placed them under the Christmas tree as our decoration
And I really hope that I will get a new Leuchtturm1917 to start my new bullet journal. We already had so many ideas and inspiration that I cannot wait to start drawing. But todays blogpost is not about motivation and inspiration, it’s about

those days where you’re not motivated at all to draw any line.

Let’s call the elephant in the room: No one is motivated to draw beautiful things every day!

This year I had one month where I wanted to quit everything and buy myself a normal planner or just used my iphone for appointments. I didn’t want to draw any doodle or sketch or even touch a tombow. Everything was too elaborated.
But what if you don’t want to throw away your bullet journal?
Then let’s talk about three helpful advices which helped me to continue and get through this phase!

Nr.1: keep it simple!
If you don’t feel like special sketches with ornaments everywhere, skip it! You don’t have to make it pretty and no one can force you to do more than you want. When I was almost throwing away my Leuchtturm1917 I went back to the basics. You can see this change in my flip through post.
February and March were so extraordinary but in April it was too much, and I chose a grey background without any sketches. In May I started again with tiny doodles but not as overloaded as March and now I’m at a level where I like the practicality – ornament ratio.

Nr.2: Take it out if you don’t like it!
What I hate more than everything else is having a page I am ashamed of or I think looks ugly. It makes me feel bad to work with this page and I don’t use it at all. So what I do if I have anything I don’t like and which most times jams my creativity is: pull it out!
Even if you paid much for that beautiful Leuchtturm1917, those pages are not helpful at all!
Take them out!
Go to a new page and start it all over again.

Nr.3: Give yourself a week without your bullet journal!
I know it sounds sad and I know you have prepared each week with love and time, but if you don’t use them or you have to force yourself to use them, it is not what it is meant to be!
A bullet journal is meant to be practical and useful. If it is not, it is no longer a hobby, it feels like work. And no one wants you to feel stressed because of this tiny journal! So, take your time and give your creativity the space to breath and find new inspiration.
If you are not motivated to do anything then just wait, it will start again. If you have no inspiration, I can suggest you to watch several YouTube videos or to go on Pinterest. I have a board with so many inspirational pictures, you might like as well.

And this is it. It’s no magic or hocus-pocus! It is the most usual thing in the world and no one expects you to be creative every day. Take your time and free your head, and everything will get normal again.

If you have any other ideas how you motivate yourself to continue with your bullet journal, let me know in the comments below. I would love to share some secrets!
